FROM MAYHEM TO MARSH

Michelle is on staff at one of the country’s most spiritually influential churches

but with the role comes constant, and sometimes crushing expectation and schedule. Here is what she said of her time with Jesus at Shepherds Care:

Looking back on our time with the two of you, John and I cannot overstate how important our time with Shepherd’s Care was for both our ministry and our marriage. The last two years have stretched and strained us in ways from which we’ve had difficulty recovering, and this time of deep rest, reflection, and quiet with the Lord has placed us back on a path to recovery and healthy ministry. It helped us hit “reset” on our habits and our relationship with Jesus.

God spoke to me in so many ways during our week with Shepherds Care. Staying near the beautiful marsh and watching the effects of the tides on that area reminded me of John 7:38, and Jesus’ promise that our daily time with Him supplies the “rivers of living water to flow from our hearts.” As we rode our bikes along the ocean with the winds at our back, God gently reminded me that His Spirit must be what propels us forward. He is our strength and our power. Having sabbath rest and time with our Father is the very best gift we can give to those we shepherd.

I am eternally grateful for the way God pursued us that week, and the obedience of so many faithful believers whom He worked through to make it possible for us.
