“WHAT…THERE'S NO ONE ON THIS BEACH?!”

“The beaches where we serve are so crowded you can never take a walk, let alone ride a bike. Also, you cannot ever hear the sound of the ocean because of all the voices and constant roaring of jet skis.”

Imagine the shock of this couple who serve in a densly populated Asian country as they biked and walked on nearly empty beaches on Hilton Head Island? As Patty and I met with them for dinner the first day they arrived, they let us know that not only does their Asian culture see no value in rest, they themselves had never experienced a week of unbroken rest in their lives. We really should take ‘before/after’ pictures so you could see what they looked like as they left after a week of rest! Within 2 days of leaving us, they were on an international flight back to the country they will be serving for another 3 year term. Please pray for them as they live in a country that is going through huge International threat/turmoil right now. May they remember to incorporate rest into their ‘real’ lives there.
