"GOD, THE BEACH, PLEASE...?"

While home on furlough for a year, Heidi was begging God for a time on the beach before heading back to hot, bleak, and barren Nigeria.

The year back in the States had been an exhausting blur of travel meeting with churches and donors all over the country. She had been calling every family member and person she knew that lived by any beach within driving distance of West Virginia…with no luck. With only 8 weeks remaining before their return to Africa, Heidi had given up on her fantasy of resting on the beach. Then, as only God can do, Shepherds Care heard about Heidi and Tom and their deep need for REST. When I (Joe) called Heidi to invite her to an all inclusive week or rest on the BEACH- she began to cry. In the tears she said, “God has heard MY prayer…”
