OXYGEN MASK

I had a phone call from my sister. “What are you doing?” she asked. “I’m putting on my oxygen mask,” I replied.

Lying under the palm trees, the breeze gently blowing, I was deeply inhaling God’s peace. I was quietly listening for God’s whispers. I was being replenished. My husband and I provide member care for over 120 long-term missionaries. We walk with them through their challenges, guiding them toward recovery. But in the same way the airline stewardess instructs us to put on our own oxygen masks before assisting others, we realize that self-care is vital in order for us to effectively help others. Shepherd’s Care dropped an oxygen mask in our laps and we gratefully received it.
